Video: Andy Serkis on Rise of the Planet of the Apes with no CGI

Category : Latest News, Movies

Twentieth Century Fox and the team behind Rise of the Planet of the Apes  really want to get Andy Serkis a best supporting actor nomination for his excellent motion capture work on the movie.  HitFlix had the “pleasure of moderating a conversation with Andy Serkis, director Rupert Wyatt and supervising sound supervisors Chuck Michael and John Larsen.”

Here is a quote via HitFlix from Serkis:

“I mean, when I did ‘Lord of the Rings’ I was still acting on film sets where the performance was filmed, but I had to then go away and reshoot the performance capture separately, whereas, with say ‘Rise of the Apes’ I’m being filmed on the performance capture cameras at the same time as James is being filmed on the live action cameras and so there is absolutely no disconnect, which makes it a lot easier to understand.  I mean the fact of the matter is I’ve always said that performance capture is not a form or a genre of acting.  It’s a technology.”

In the first half of this Super Happy Fun holiday edition of SSWL, Ryan O’Leary and Francis Sky join us and explain what they loved about 2011. Then we get down to brass tacks and shared our own top five movies and games of the year. With our lists out of the way, we went through some very complicated math (fucking addition) and calculated the Some Shit We Like movie and game of the year (Please note that the calculations included only the lists of Rick, Mike, and Bryce).

Major thanks  go out to both Ryan O’Leary and Francis Sky for joining us this week. Please be sure to keep up with Ryan at ryanolearyfilms.com and @thebloodymess on Twitter. As for Fran, you can web-stalk him on the official Facebook page for The Massacre Twins as well as @massacre_twins on Twitter.

We have had a great time doing the show this year and an equal amount of enjoyment came out of individually creating and sharing these lists with you. All that being said, please sit back, relax, and enjoy our final show of 2011!

Some S**t We Like 025

We’re a little late on posting this week, but episode #25 has arrived. I suppose you could refer to this as the diva episode since it decided to be fashionably late. And what would a diva episode be without some divas!?! That’s right, your favorite divas are back with more of the news, reviews, and information that YOU crave. So, enjoy this one folks, and hey, if it seems like any of us are truly acting like divas on this episode, it was only to keep up with the theme (a theme that I just created as I typed this. Imagine that?). Here’s the talking points of the episode:
